Reading Intervention classes at Bridgeway Island focus on student achievement in the building blocks to reading. They are given a structured literacy approach that include direct and explicit instruction in areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency skills, as well as practice in rich and multiple genres of text, to build comprehension. The program is differentiated to meet a student's needs based on a series of diagnostic assessments. Because students are working at their instructional level, the reading intervention program helps to not only grow their skill set, but also increases their confidence when returning to their classrooms.

The Reading Intervention class format includes read alouds and teacher-led small group instruction.

Please use the menu in the top left hand corner for updated information on what your child is working on in intervention this week.

If you have received a letter indicating that your child will be receiving reading intervention this year, and have any questions or would like to view your child's progress, please feel free to contact me via email and/or phone to set up a conference.

Happy Reading!
