California’s students excel in STEM pathways, from elementary to graduate school and into careers where they accelerate and build the Golden State’s leadership in research, industry, and service.

Cargo Glider

Description: Design and construct a glider with a payload that, when launched by the Launching Mechanism, flies through the air, goes over an obstacle and lands the farthest.

Coding Solutions

Description: Test your knowledge virtually on programming fundamentals and problem solving using JavaScript. Students should be familiar with basic mathematics and elementary Algebra topics.

Crime Scene Science

Description: Collaborate using your knowledge of science to solve this new mystery working your way through a crime scene using your knowledge of punnett squares and plant cells including sketching a microscope and designing and constructing a Plant Cell model that test your science skills!

MESA Machine

Description: Design and construct a complex machine that utilizes three to six different sequential and dependent actions from designated categories of energy/simple machines that will ultimately in the least amount of time propel a vehicle with wind the farthest distance.

Moon Base

Description: Design and construct an original structure using only recycled cardboard that can withstand the highest amount of impact, is lightweight, and meets the specific size requirements.
