Meet Your RHC Counselor:

Hi Titans! My name is Claudia Buenfil, and I am thrilled to be your Counselor this Spring term! I am a First-generation College graduate/professional from South Central, Los Angeles. My educational journey began at El Camino College, where I earned my AA-T in Sociology. I then transferred to UC Irvine, achieving my BA in Sociology, and later pursued an M.S. in Educational Counseling at the University of La Verne.

Besides being a counselor at Rio Hondo college, I am also a Counselor at El Camino College and a professor at East Los Angeles College. In my capacity as both a professor and Counselor, I am dedicated to supporting students on their diverse academic and career paths, emphasizing self-advocacy and self-efficacy. My passion lies in advocating for educational reform, with a commitment to fostering an equitable, student-centered, multicultural education.

Outside of my professional life, I find joy traveling the world, immersing myself in diverse cultures, engaging in political discussions, and binge-watch K-dramas (Im also a BTS army lol).

"Let's make this term an enriching and successful journey together!"

Meet Your RHC Representative:

Hi Titans! My name is Graciela Rangel, most students know me as Ms. Grace. I am very excited to work with you all! I am a first-generation college graduate from California State University, Los Angeles, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Social Work. During my undergrad studies, I worked as a Student Peer Mentor where I helped first-year, first-generation students navigate college. I have worked for over six years helping students navigate higher education goals, & I am excited to hear what your goals are for your future!

Besides working at Rio Hondo College, I support my family, friends, & community at Cal State LA with their goals and plans for college. Some of the students I work with are currently attending colleges and universities such as Cal Poly Pomona, Mt. SAC, Cal State LA, and Cal State San Bernardino, - & all of my students are first-generation college students who are set to graduate within four years or less.

Outside of work, I love to go dancing with my family and friends, traveling, going to concerts, and listening or playing music with my cousins. Last year I was lucky enough to go to four concerts & one music festival: 5 Seconds of Summer, Pancho Barraza, Los Tigres del Norte, Julieta Venegas, & Besame Mucho (I went with my parents as our first music festival).
