Merit Prize in Hong Kong Science Fair
Two teams of our Form 5 Biology students were awarded Merit Prize in the 2024-25 Hong Kong Science Fair.
Our team “Asclepius” were inspired by the idea of eco-friendly and natural remedies to develop a hemostatic and antibacterial ointment made with Chinese herbs, Agrimonia pilosa (仙鶴草) and Aloe vera (蘆薈), to replace the traditional adhesive bandages.
Our other team created their “Blaze Tracker”, a comprehensive fire detection and alert system comprising a fire detecting system, signal processing system, and fire broadcasting system.

“One School One Traditional Medicine Garden (2nd Phase)” Award Ceremony and Achievements Exhibition
Three of our students participated in the “One School One Traditional Medicine Garden (2nd Phase)” Award Ceremony and Achievements Exhibition. Their presentation highlighted their interest in herb cultivation and the challenges they faced, such as pest issues and environmental conditions. They shared their hands-on experiences in caring for the plants and their newfound understanding of traditional Chinese medicine through the workshops, which have overall strengthened their commitment to promoting Chinese medicine and their desire to deepen their knowledge while exploring this valuable cultural heritage with their peers.
Freshwater Turtle Care Workshop
Our students participated in a Freshwater Turtle Care Workshop in Ocean Park, supported by Ocean Park Conservation Fund. They engaged in hands-on activities such as feeding the turtles, cleaning their tanks, and measuring their body weights. This workshop provided insights into turtle care and fostered a deeper appreciation for these reptiles.
Science Busking – Freshwater Turtle Conservation
Organized by the F.5 Freshwater Conservation Educators and supported by the Ocean Park Conservation Fund (OPCF), the Science Busking event successfully engaged our F.1 and F.2 students, along with participants from other levels. The activity featured a card game where students matched freshwater turtle images with their characteristics, complemented by informative displays on local turtle species and the needs for conservation. This event effectively raised our students’ awareness and understanding of biodiversity and the significance of wildlife conservation.
Talk@MySchool Programme for Biology Students
As part of the Talk@MySchool Programme organized by the Faculty of Science at The University of Hong Kong, our F.4 and F.5 students were invited to attend an engaging science talk aiming at providing insights into the fascinating world of biology and the university’s science programmes.

Field Visit
In order to enrich and apply ecological knowledge in textbooks, F.5 Biology students participated in a field visit organized by Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre (sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen). They visited Chuen Lung, Tai Mo Shan to study the freshwater stream ecosystem by measuring different abiotic factors and identifying organisms found in the site. They also designed a scientific investigation and presented their findings to the class.
Measuring the abiotic factors (water flow) at the field site using a water flow meter
Counting the abundance of organisms using a quadrat
Reporting the findings
