PE RULES & EXPECTATIONS

2024-2025

• Locker rooms- Students will go into the locker room, change, and then leave the locker room when they are finished. A teacher will be in and out of the locker room to monitor behavior. 

• What to wear??? Students will be required to have a different change of clothes than what they come to school in. That means, a different shirt and different pair of pants/shorts. 

• Students need to have sneakers. CROCS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN PE CLASS! (No, not even in sports mode!) If students have a change of clothes and no sneakers, that will count as being unprepared for class, and vice versa. 

• Students will get their clothes from their school lockers before class. They will then use a locker in the locker room to store their belongings during class. These lockers are shared among students. Therefore, after using the locker during class, the students MUST take everything out of the locker since it will be used for other students during other classes.  After class, students will take their clothes back to their school lockers. Unfortunately, we will not be issuing lockers like we did last year. 

• NO PERFUMES OR SPRAY DEODORANTS ALLOWED! There is not enough ventilation in the locker rooms (or the gym!). Keep them at home!

• ABSOLUTELY NO EATING OR DRINKING IN THE GYM!...with the exception of water. If students are unable to handle having a water bottle in class, those will not be allowed either. There is a water fountain right outside the gym and that is what will be used if water bottles become an issue. 

• Grading- Students will be graded on attendance/preparation, participation, and skills. 

  • Unprepared/Attendance: -5 points

  • Lack of participation: -5 points

  • Major grades- the PACER test, Sit-up test, and Botvin Lessons will be the 3 major grades in PE class.

  • For everyday you are absent, you have to complete 1 assignment in order to get the missing points back. If you choose not to do a make-up assignment, you will have points deducted for your absence. *** SEE PE MAKE UP WORK TAB*** These are the ONLY points you are able to earn back!

BATHROOM- After the locker rooms have been cleared, you will not be allowed to go back in to use the bathrooms; you will use the bathrooms directly across the hall from the gym. Also, please do not ask to go to the bathroom the first 10 minutes of class and the last 10 minutes of class. The bathrooms will not be open during those times.

NURSE-students should always ask for a pass when they need to go to the nurse. 

PASSES- students need a pass whenever they are leaving the gym! Passes are a must!

DISCIPLINE- Every first offense is a warning. This means, it is documented in Genesis so we (PE staff and administration) are aware of any behavioral issues.

•  2nd offense, documented in genesis and a phone call home. 

• 3rd offense, documented in genesis and a written referral sent to the office. 

CELL PHONES- Cell phones are to be kept in your school issued locker.  

BASIC RULES FOR A FUN & SAFE ENVIRONMENT

1. Enter & exit the gym quietly.

2. Follow the rules of the games

3. Keep hands & feet to yourself

4. Stop on the whistle, listen for instructions.

5. Respect others & equipment.

6. Ask an adult for permission before leaving the gym. 

7. Wear appropriate clothing.

8. BE KIND.
