Applying to be a member?

Eligibility Requirements:

• You must have completed Algebra 1 and Geometry.

• You must currently be registered for Algebra 2 or higher. 

• You must be enrolled in at least one math class each year of high school.

• You need to be in good academic standing in ALL courses that rely heavily on mathematics. This means...

  • An average of B or higher in all math classes

  • An average of B- or higher in all other classes

• The application is due Monday, October 6th, 2025.

After your membership status has been determined, fill out the following academic and behavior contract AND submit membership dues before first meeting on Monday October 20th, 2025

Volunteer Hours

Volunteer Hours are required each year that you are in Mu Alpha Theta. 

What counts as hours?

• Peer tutoring

• Morning math help with Dr. Sampaio before school in Room 112

• Other (must be approved by an advisor)

After induction...

To stay active, you must fulfill the following requirements:

1. Attend mandatory, monthly meetings

2. Fulfill at least 10 hours of volunteer work each year of active membership. 

3. An initial fee of $20;

   • Mrs. Maldonado in  Room D-13

Please note that membership fees are non-refundable.
