At the first through fifth grade levels, art is a graded academic course that is taught one class period per week. Grading is generally based on participation, work effort, and the understanding and application of concepts. Students will earn approximately six to eight grades during the course of a marking period. The actual number of grades may vary depending on holidays, days off, assemblies, and other school activities.
Students are expected to come to class ready to learn with a positive mind and attitude. My goal is for your child to create unique and meaningful art while acquiring new skills. Students will also learn how to describe, examine, and interpret different works of art. In my class, your child will discover how to brainstorm, plan out ideas, and make creative decisions. Self-expression and creativity are always encouraged!
