Cross country is a sport where teams or individuals compete in long-distance outdoor runs. At the middle school level in our district, each of the district’s 5 middle schools compete against one another on a 1.5-mile course at Merrill Park. During the season, each school runs against one another once. The season culminates with the Meet of Champions where the top 7 runners from each school compete for a district championship and individual awards.
In order to participate on the IMS Cross Country team you must have a good school behavior record. Additionally, during the meets, you must represent IMS in a positive way and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Moreover, your academic performance must be satisfactory. If you don’t meet these standards, you may be removed from the team.
