Class Procedures/Expectations:
Policies for Attendance
Arrive to class every day on time and prepared
All lates & absences must be excused (cutting class will result in disciplinary action)
Policies for Make-Up Work
Students are responsible for all missed assignments due to absence
When you return from absence, check Google Classroom for the day(s) you missed and THEN see Mrs. Salsman with any questions
Students are given two (2) days for every one (1) day of absence to make up all missed assignments (school policy)
Policies for Classroom Conduct & Behavior
When you arrive to class, QUIETLY:
Hand in any written/printed assignments in the basket
Go to your seat and log onto the PC/Chromebook
Open Google Classroom
Begin DO NOW
During class: No talking while the teacher is giving a lesson, no eating in the classroom, and no use of foul language, verbal or physical abuse, or intolerant behavior. Of course all other school policies apply including cell phone/ear bud use, and dress code.
Before you leave class, PLEASE:
Put any materials/devices used away
Log off of the PC
Push in your chair
Policies for Use of Technology
Students are only to use the Internet and any other devices/programs when instructed by the teacher to do so for an assignment. Violation of the WTSD Internet User’s Contract will result in disciplinary action.
Policies for Use of Cell Phones/Headphones/Earbuds
Students are only to be using headphones to listen to music during independent work time after lesson is given (not during DO NOW, etc.) with teacher permission
Keep volume at a reasonable level—you should still be able to hear announcements from the teacher or any emergency signals
Use common sense when choosing music, videos, and other sites; student devices are monitored by the teacher and may be monitored by WTSD admin offices—please keep it school appropriate
Use of headphones/listening to music is a privilege that can be taken away at the teacher’s discretion
Grading Policy:
50% of your grade will be based on major assessments. This includes tests/projects. During presentations and group work, I will factor participation into the grade.
50% of your grade will be based on minor assessments. This includes quizzes, class work, homework, and other activities.
Most of your assignments will be online (however, some will require a hard copy). Online assignments should be turned in on Google Classroom by the submission deadline.
Late assignments will result in deduction from the grade 10 points for each day up to 5 days.
One day late = minus 10, 2 days late = minus 20, and so on.
There will be zero tolerance for any form of cheating on any assignment. Students caught cheating will be given a zero for that assignment with no make-up opportunity. This includes plagiarism, file sharing, etc.
Loss of credit: In a 2.5 credit class, students will lose credit for the course if they are absent 4 times (unexcused) throughout the course of the marking period
