I been a teacher of students with ASD for the past 7 years here in WTSD! Outside of school, I work as a behavior technician doing in-home ABA Therapy for a private company.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I spent more than 5 years working as a paraprofessional in Autism, Cognitively Impaired and Multiply Disabled programs in my hometown and school district-Toms River School District. My involvement in these fields has granted me the opportunity to attend multiple trainings in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other strategies.
I have also completed the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education's Virtual Comprehensive IMSE Orton-Gillingham Training.
My experiences working with children and adults with disabilities led me to pursue and complete my Bachelor’s Degree in English and Teacher of Students with Disabilities Grades K-12 from Kean University. Additionally, I have my Master's degree in Psychology with Specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis!
My name is Emily Sankowski. I grew up in Toms River, NJ and went through the Toms River Regional School District. My mother is also a teacher!
I've been riding horses competitively for almost 20 years- It is my passion outside of teaching! As a child, I volunteered as a working student for a therapeutic horseback riding facility; this early exposure to the special needs population truly ignited my passion that would eventually lead me to the wonderful world of special education.
I love watching movies, going to the beach, listening to music and going to concerts. I am also a huge fan of the New Jersey Devils.
I live in Middletown with my husband and our pets!
