Welcome future recorder masters!
3rd grade is the perfect time to learn an instrument -you will be able to use what you learn for next year if you join band or chorus!
The school will provide you with your own recorder (you get to keep your instrument after you complete 3rd grade!). It is not required to purchase your own, but if you would like to, please reach out to me at melanie.ring@wtsdnj.com for more information.
***Please note that this year recorders will stay in the music room and not be taken home for practice. In some cases, students may take the recorder home to practice. An email will be sent home to inform families of instruction/practice expectations and when the recorder should return to school.***
Recorder Karate uses a method called the "belt system". Just like in real karate you are able to earn belts as you progress through the songs!
White: Hot Cross Buns
Yellow: Gently Sleep
Orange: Merrily We Roll Along
Green: Rain Go Away!
Purple: Old MacDonald Has a Farm
Blue: When the Saints Go Marching In
Red: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Brown: Amazing Grace
Black: Ode To Joy
RECORDER CARE:
Even though they are made of plastic, they can break quite easily!
Keep them in a safe place when you are not practicing!
If you need to clean the instrument, use dish soap and warm water, soak for 1 minute then dry completely.
If you have any other care questions please feel free to email me:
If you cannot find your recorder or the recorder is visibly broken:
