ASI (Academic Support Instructor)
Title I is a federally funded program that provides extra financial support to schools to help the at-risk student meet academic standards. Funded through the U.S. Department of Education, the program is based on academic need. Extra instruction in reading or math goes to students who need extra support. The Woodbridge Township School District refers to the program as ASI (Academic Support Instruction).

What are the goals of the ASI program?
The primary goal of the Academic Support Instruction (ASI) program is to provide targeted academic intervention to students identified as displaying learning difficulties in math and/or language arts literacy. ASI teachers work collaboratively with the classroom teacher, using both in-class support and small group sessions, to provide intensive work on particular skills. They are knowledgeable about the general education curriculum, skillful at anticipating student difficulties with learning tasks, and adept at working with the general education teacher to provide ongoing differentiation, adaptation, and modification of the general education curriculum.
