Hispanic Heritage Month/LatinX Heritage Month was celebrated at Claremont Avenue School from September 15th-October 15th. These dates were chosen to coincide with the Indepdance Days of several South and Central American countries when the United States first started celebrating only for one week. When it was expanded to an entire month the starting date remained the same but we continue to celebrate for the next few weeks ending on October 15th.
October
Hispanic Heritage Month began Septamber 15th and continues to October 15th. Students completed art projects, read books, watched movies, and reseached the important contributions of Hispanic to our world.

November
November is Indigenous People's Month, also refered to as Native American Heritage Month. We learned about the contributions of Native Americans and the diverse cultures represented in their community. Students watched videos, read articles and story books, and created art celebrating different cultures within the Indigenous community.

We also celebrated Diwali with a Food Drive and a Video by last year's NEHS, Rangoli coloring pages and Diwali word finds.
December
In December many of our families came together to create a holiday quilt, we had beautifu representations of CHristmas, Hanakah, Ramadan, Eid, Lunar New Year, and other holidays special to our students and families.
January
In January we celebrated Indic Heritage Month and the people and cultures of the Indian Sub-Contintent. Countries included in this region are India, Nepal, Bangledesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.
February
After winter break our students came back to Black History Month. Each morning we read about an influential African American person that has made a significant impact in our country. We included scientists, politicans, writers, and musiathletes.
March
Women's History Month included some exciting projects for our students. They researched the women that made important scientific discoveries and had an impact on society. Our 3rd grade made some beutiful peices of art inspired by Georgia O'Keefe.
April
In April our students learned about the Autistic community during Autism Acceptance Month. Our teachers wore blue every Friday to show our support and love while modeling the same message to our students. Students also learned about different Neurodiversities and Physical disabilites helping them to learn and understand that all people deserve love and respect no matter thier differences.
