Rehearsal Information

There will be a full cast meeting on December 19th at 2:40 in the Auditorium.  You will receive your script, preliminary schedule and any other forms you may need at this rehearsal so it is important that you attend.  You will also be measured for costumes on that date.

Rehearsals begin on January 2nd.

Rehearsals are Monday through Thursday, times will vary between 2:40-5:00, 4:00-6:30pm, and 6:00-9:00pm (This is based on our Vocal Director’s and Choreographer’s availability) and some Saturdays 9:00pm-3:00pm.  You will not be called for every rehearsal for the first month or so. You will also be called for specific, scheduled costume fittings on select days after school. That schedule will be released closer to the first rehearsal in January.

Starting February 26th, NO ONE can miss rehearsal for any reason, unless cleared with the Director beforehand in writing.  Evening rehearsals begin on March 11th and will last from 5:30pm until 9:30/10:00pm.  Starting this week, attendance at any other activities after school MUST be approved by the Director.  The time before rehearsal should be spent resting, eating, and doing homework as to preserve your health and sanity.

Show dates:  March 20th (Senior Citizen's Free Performance/Open Dress Rehearsal) at 6pm, March 21st, 22nd, March 23rd at 7:00pm, and March 24th at 2pm

STRIKE:  All cast members MUST attend Strike on March 25th and 26th at 2:40pm in the auditorium.  How quickly you get out is determined by how hard you work.

Absence Policy

Please have all conflicts/absences (that occur between January 3rd and March 26th) written down and ready for your audition day.  Please be honest because I don't want to cast you and then find out that you will be missing a ton of rehearsal time.

You may miss a total of 7 rehearsals (Excused Absences, unless given permission by the DIRECTOR to miss additional rehearsals - illness, death in family, weddings, etc...)  We must be notified of all absences in writing.  If it is not done in advance, you MUST contact your stage manager via text message AND phone call.

If you have 1 unexcused absence from a rehearsal, you will be removed from the number/scene/song we are working on that day.  If you have 2 unexcused absences from rehearsals, you will be put on a probationary status and may be removed from or replaced in more numbers/scenes/songs. If you have 3 unexcused absences from rehearsals, you will no longer be in the production.

If you are more than 20 minutes late for a rehearsal without prior consent from the Director, you will be sent home and no longer in the scene/number/song we are working on at that particular rehearsal.

If you are absent from school, you MUST contact your stage manager either by phone, text or email.  If you cannot do any of those, you must email me at stephanie.platko@woodbridge.k12.nj.us before 2:30pm.

Important Information - Please Note

You will be asked to sign a Production Contract upon being cast in this production. This includes things such as in school behavior, grade minimums for all your classes, as well as timeliness (i.e. coming to rehearsal on time, getting picked up on time) Should you violate the contract, you will be asked to leave the production.

If you are cast, you will be asked to sell Ads and Boosters, promote our fundraisers, and sell Tickets.  Also, we will be asking for Parental Assistance with building our sets, setting up our lobby display, selling concessions, and other fundraising items.  Understand that this production is given NO financial assistance from the school or the school district.  Everything we build, purchase, or rent for this production must come from our fundraising efforts.

If you plan on attending Arts High, you will not be cast in the show.  Arts High, in the past, has not been cooperative and accepting of our rehearsal schedules and it is a difficult decision to make, but we cannot allow the number of absences caused by Arts High attendance.

If you play a Winter Sport (bowling, basketball, wrestling, track, competition cheerleading, etc...), you will not be able to be cast as a named role or featured role in this production.  You may be cast as ensemble but your stage time may be limited based on your schedule.

If you are a Fall/Winter Sport Cheerleader, are on the Swim Team, run Spring Track, or plan on trying out for Baseball/Softball or Volleyball, please get me your practice/game schedule and see me about arrangements. Please note that your time commitment to both is a factor and if your coach is unwilling to compromise, it may affect casting.

If you are a Competition Dancer at any studio, please get me your rehearsal and competition schedule.  I will do my best to accommodate your schedules, however I cannot guarantee you will be cast, as availability does come into play during casting.

Please be aware that favoritism or seniority is not a factor when it comes to casting the CHS Spring Musical.  The staff is concerned with making the best decisions for the good of the production as a whole.  However, if you have been in a CHS production in the past and have been less than reliable or dedicated, this will be factored in when making decisions.
