AP Lang 2023-2024

For everyone in Mrs. Lesniak's Spring 2023 AP Lang Class:

Welcome to AP Lang! This will be a class like you've never had before, but I assure you the adventure will be worth the ride. On the first day of class, we will review the rules and expecations. In class, we will also review the  Academic Honesty Contract. You will be responsible for having a guardian read and sign it.

Consistent attendance is absolutely crucial to success in this class. Please make every effort to not only be present for class, but to also be engaged and active.

AP LANG SUMMER ASSIGNMENT: 2023-2024

If you are enrolled in AP English Language and Composition (AP Lang) for the 2023-2024 school year - regardless of which teacher you will have - you must join the AP Lang Summer 2023-2024 Google Classroom. The code is wrkpz4r.

In this classroom, you will find the summer assignment posted. This assignment is for both myself and Ms. McKeever and is due the first day of school, September 5, 2023, regardless of which semester you have AP Lang.  Should you have any questions about the assignment, please email one of us prior to August 15th: (nichole.lesniak@woodbridge.k12.nj.us) or (maura.mckeever@woodbridge.k12.nj.us). You may submit the assignment earlier; the assignment will not be accepted late.

Each incoming AP Lang student is expected to complete the summer reading and accompanying assignment. The purpose of the summer work is to acquaint you with one topic of the course: the effective use of language. The assignment will allow you to consider how writers use the tools of language: grammar and punctuation to powerfully convey meaningful ideas.

It is your responsibility to thoughtfully read the assigned text. The accompanying assignment is designed to ascertain if you have read and reflected on your reading. Do not make the mistake of using another’s work or ideas. You will learn that we do read everything that you turn in. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
