I began my teaching career in 2007 with four years as an ASI (Academic Support Instruction) Teacher, then moved into a classroom teaching position.
It was my privilege to serve on the I&RS (Intervention and Referral Services) Committee here at Oak Tree Road from 2012-2021, which allowed me to gain insight into the various learning challenges encountered by students as well as the many ways to offer help.
At the District level, I have had several opportunities to serve on summer curriculum committees, including 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Grade Language Arts, 5th Grade Social Studies, Health, Disabilities & LGBTQ+ State Mandate , and RTI (I&RS) curricula. I've also received training in the IMSE's Orton-Gillingham reading methodology.
Over the past six years, I have served as Chair of OTR's School Diversity Council. We coordinate the efforts of our faculty and parent members as we guide our students to become more educated about the diversity around us. Most recently, I have also taken part in a pilot program to educate students about religious articles of faith, focusing on religious items worn by of the Jewish, Sikh, and Muslim people in our community.
My education includes a BA in Political Science (Rutgers University); an MPA (NYU - Graduate School of Public Administration); a Post-Baccalaureate Certification in K-5 Elementary Education (Kean University). and a Post-Baccalaureate Certification in Teaching the Holocaust and Prejudice Reduction (Kean University).
My husband Chris and I live in Woodbridge where we raised our two children Daniel and Megan.
