Classroom Expectations

1. Be in your assigned seat and prepared to work when the bell rings. Have your sustained silent reading book at your desk.

 

2.  Bring required materials every day.  A notebook, pen/pencil, and charged Chromebook are required for class.  Your Chromebook should remain closed until I instruct you to open it and turn it on.  

3. Remain in your assigned seat unless you have permission to get up. Wait until I dismiss the class at the end of the block. 

 

4.  Abstain from eating, drinking, chewing gum, and grooming in class.

 

5. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized before speaking.

 

6. Remain alert and keep your head off the desk at all times.

 

7. Respect the rights and property of others and be courteous and respectful to your teacher, classmates, and visitors.

 

8. Check your grades on Genesis and review Google classroom regularly.

9. Do not commit plagiarism. 

10. Put away electronics - No cell phones, earbuds, or head phones out in class or in the hallway when classes change blocks. Cell phones cannot be left out on desks during class even if students are not using them. They must be put away in a pocket or purse.  You may not exit the room with your earbuds or headphones on.  This is your warning. There will be no other.  

 

11. Keep desk clear - Only class materials on the desk during lessons. No purses or personal items out on desk.

 

12. Do not sit on windowsills or heaters.  


13. No hoods, hats or head coverings permitted. 


14. No lockers during class.


15. Students must use the 3rd Floor Bathroom. 

Deadlines and Grading Policies

 

1. All students are expected to participate to the best of their abilities at all times, whether it is a full group discussion, small group work, or individual task.  Participation includes responding to questions, as well as, listening and responding to others, so remember this is a place where all should feel welcome, safe, and capable of learning.    

 

2. Students are expected to maintain academic integrity at all times. Please refer to the Woodbridge Township Policy on Plagiarism

  3.  Grading Policy for English R/S: Major assessments (tests, essays, projects, portfolios, etc.) are worth 50% of the marking period grade. Minor assessments (quizzes, classwork, homework, etc.) are worth 50% of the marking period grade. Final Grade = 40% MP1, 40% MP2, 20% Final Exam.

4.  Students who are absent from class due to illness, or school related activities are expected to make up posted or scheduled assignments/tests upon the day the student returns to class.  It is the student’s responsibility to check Google Classroom to see what was missed during his/her absence. Students will be given two school days for each day absent to complete makeup work. 

5.  Late homework will be accepted at the teacher’s discretion.  Not every homework assignment is eligible to be accepted late.  Late homework is subjected to a 10 point deduction per day of tardiness.  After 5 days it is accepted at 50%. 

Late major assessments are penalized 10 points per day of tardiness.
