No Homework Tonight?
There is always something to do.
Reflex Math - this should be done daily
Independent Reading - children should be reading or being read to at least 20 minutes each day/night.
Practice Math facts - it is very important for 5th graders to MASTER their Multiplication facts. Flash cards are a great tool to use at home.
Get creative - Legos, play-doh, paper and pencil.... build the imagination.
Write a letter, a real paper and pencil letter, to a relative or friend. Mail it to the person. Maybe a reply will come back in the mail.
Baking is a great way to practice science and math facts at home. Plus it is a fun way to spend time together with your child.
The list is endless....
Suggested School Supplies:
**ONLY ONE Book Sock is needed for our SS book**
3 - Marble composition books (5 different colors/designs for easy identification)
5 - 2 pocket folders
Crayons or Colored Pencils
Scissors
2 Glue Sticks
Pencils
2 Red pens
2 Blue pens
Whiteboard markers & eraser (a sock is a great eraser and holds the marker, too)
Earbuds or headphones to keep at school (a cheap pair)
Please note: It is not necessary to send all supplies at one time, due to limited space. It is always good to keep some at home and refill/replace as necessary. For example, 24 pencils are not needed.
