Dear Parents/Students,
Welcome to fifth grade at School #23! I am excited to start a new school year. This year will be different in many ways but at the same time, many things will remain the same. We will still learn new things and we will still try to do our best to meet the challenges that we face! This is my 15th year teaching at Woodbine Avenue School, and I have over the years, taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. I attended Kean University where I received both my BA and MA in Educational Leadership. I became a teacher because I want to help children succeed and learn new things. I want all my students to be proud of their accomplishments during their time in fifth grade and be excited by the idea of discovering something new.
I know that together we will make this year a fun and wonderful learning experience. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions that you may have. I encourage constant communication in order to provide the best educational experience during your time at Woodbine Avenue School#23!
This year we are launching our distance learning plan. I acknowledge that distance learning cannot reasonably replace daily in-person instruction, but I am determined to make the absolute best of it. As our school year starts, please stay connected by following your child’s school work on Google Classroom.
Our school district’s Distance Learning Plan provides for students to continue learning in developmentally appropriate ways. The plan includes daily video lessons, assignments and learning materials posted to Google Classroom completed individually or collaboratively, along with scheduled Google Meet chats. I will also be available during office hours to communicate with parents as I am aware there may be concerns through this new process.
I look forward to a great year and a positive learning experience for each and every oneof my students!
Sincerely,
Mr. Tothe
