I am excited to be your child’s academic coach this year. I bring 14 years of teaching experience within the district and have a strong background in small-group reading instruction. I’m looking forward to a great year of learning with your child!
In addition to the reading instruction your child receives in the classroom, they will also participate in daily small-group reading intervention. This support is based on ongoing assessments throughout the year and is designed to help your child succeed. I will be using a variety of research-based programs and strategies, including multi-sensory and differentiated instruction, University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI), Benchmark Phonics Intervention, Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), and my training in Orton-Gillingham, to support your child’s growth as a confident reader.
Your child’s progress will be closely monitored and regularly discussed with their classroom teacher to determine if any additional support is needed.
Information/Reminders:
Your child will be leveled each month on their reading
Students will come home with a reading folder, a short story, and a reading log to sign off on after you read
When your child is reading at level, I will send home an updated reading level and dismiss them from intervention
