Requirements:
Meetings are held once at month and are mandatory.
September-February: 2 hours of Community service are required,
March- May: 1 hour each month,
One-time charter dues upon acceptance.
Volunteers Opportunities - All volunteer opportunities are posted in our google classrooms. You can also join the AMS community service club for more opportunities (See Mrs. LoGatto or Mrs. Oliveira for details).
Eligibility:
Candidates eligible for selection to this chapter must be in the second semester of seventh grade or eighth grade class.
To be eligible for selection to membership of this chapter, the candidate must have been enrolled for a period equivalent to three complete semesters at Avenel Middle School.

7th grade candidates
Candidates must have A's and B's in each marking period by the end of 6th grade in any subject.
Candidates must have A's and B's after the first semester in each marking period in 7th grade.
This applies to all students, except those students who are enrolled in Honors Math or Language Arts, then a grade of C Plus is acceptable in those two HONORS courses in each marking period.
8th grade candidates
Candidate must have A's and B's as grades by the end of 7th grades in any subject in each marking period.
Candidate must have A's and B's after the first semester in each marking period in 8th grade
This applies to all students, except those students who are enrolled in Honors Science, Math or Language Arts, then a grade of C + (C Plus) is acceptable in those HONORS three courses in each marking period.
Candidates must have been enrolled in AMS or other Woodbridge Township Middle School for 6th, 7th and 8th or 7th and 8th grade. (a total of 6 marking periods)
Candidates must obtain a minimum of Community Service Hours - 5
Candidates must participate in 1 AMS Club and 1 outside activity (Currently the AMS Community Service Club is available, however check the AMS website for updates)
Candidates cannot have any formal write ups or informal disciplinary actions in their file, including cheating or exhibiting lack of respect.
Upon meeting the grade level, enrollment, academic, and behavioral standards, candidates shall then be considered based on their service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
All NEW 7th grade incoming members will be asked to submit a membership fee.

Scholarship
Students must first meet this criterion to become candidates for membership.
Service
This involves voluntary contributions made by a student and done without compensation which involves service to the school or the community.
Leadership
Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
Character
The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others.
Citizenship
In general, the student who demonstrates citizenship understands the importance of civic engagement; has a high regard for freedom and justice; and respects democracy.
