THINGS TO CHECK
Students will bring home a "Homework Folder" each day, with daily notices and homework papers. They will also bring home a Daily Planner, in which all homework assignments and upcoming things of importance are written down. Please be sure to review the planner, check your child's homework, and sign the planner nightly. Checking through both of these on a daily basis is the best way to monitor your child's progress on classwork and homework. Both the planner and the folder should ALWAYS go back to school with your child each day.
Weekly work folders will be sent home on Fridays. Please check through all the graded papers. Sign and return any work that has received a D or F. Sign the form inside the "Friday Folder" and promptly return it, with all the papers removed, every Monday.
Remember to regularly check your student's grades on Genesis on-line. This will help you check and monitor progress. Please note that report cards are only available on-line at the end of each marking period.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM
DAILY WORK will be posted by 4pm. This post should be checked by students if they have been absent, or were out of the classroom for other activities (ex: band, G&T, etc.) Missed assignments should be written in the planner and completed as directed.
I also create a post for each lesson/unit for subject areas that includes important information, as well as related videos and references. This can be reviewed as needed.
Students should bring their CHARGED COMPUTER to school each day!
REFLEX MATH
This is a great practice site for math skills. Students should be going on this site, and obtaining at least 3 green lights each week (Monday-Sunday). They will receive a weekly grade, based on how many green lights they get each week. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to increase their skills and raise their grades.
4+ = Outstanding 100
3= Satisfactory 79
2 or 1= Unsatisfactory 50
0 = Failure 0
Please provide a note or email....
1. If your child is absent.
2. If you know in advance your child will be pulled out of school early.
3. If you are going to take your child out for lunch.
4. If someone else other than you is going to pick up your child.
5. If your bus student is not going on the bus.
If you find yourself with any immediate concerns regarding school-related matters, please feel free to contact me either by sending in a note with your child, or by emailing me at: lisa.chesney@woodbridge.k12.nj.us, or by telephoning me at school. I will get back to you as soon as I'm able.
We are an NUT-FREE CLASSROOM
Please DO NOT send in any treats/foods that contain nuts or are processed in a facility that uses nuts. I will not be able to serve these snacks.
Please sign up for --------. I sent an invite to all parents the first week of school. I use this system to send mass messages to all parents. It is better for you to use my school email when you have a personal concern.
Be sure to label all your child's personal items with their name or initials to avoid any questions of possession.
Please review all Math algorithms and basic math facts (+, -, x, /) using flash cards or written/oral practice. All children must know their "basic facts," if they are to meet success, since these are the foundations of all future math lessons.
Please insist that your child study for any and all tests. Science, Health and Social Studies tests are challenging. I will attempt to provide Study Guides whenever possible
Thank you for considering these suggestions to help your child achieve success.
It is my hope that by making the "Home-School Connection," each student will soar this year!
