Course Description
This course is designed to offer high school senior students a real-world opportunity to explore career interests while developing general employability skills, earning an income, and becoming proficient in a chosen industry. This course will follow individualized student training plans while on the job and will integrate into learning in the classroom. These students will gain 21st Century employability skills, as well as academic skills, those that are necessary for job success.
Students enrolled in this course will be versed in searching for a career, applying to a job, working as a team and being a leader, understand how to make ethical decisions, know their rights as an employee and how to handle sexual harassment situations, balance time and stress management, look to continue job growth, prepare to enter the workplace and follow pathways to long-term careers, among others. Upon culmination of this course, students will create a final portfolio which showcases their continued performance growth over the course of the school year.

Course Requirements
- All student jobs must be approved by school SLE Coordinator.
- Students must maintain employment at a school approved, non-hazardous worksite for the entirety of the course.
- Students must complete 270 work hours to receive 10 course credits.
- Students must be seniors, and must have met all graduation requirements.
- Students must be paid at least the New Jersey minimum wage.
- Students must obtain a job on their own within the Woodbridge Township, Edison, Perth Amboy radius. (Approval by teacher.)
