Hi Everyone! My name is Ms. Pearce & I am the Student Assistance Counselor at Iselin Middle School.

My role as a Student Assistance Counselor (SAC) is to assist students with any personal issue that negatively impacts their learning and/ or emotional development. I will meet with students on an individual or small group basis to help them build resilience and develop coping skills. 

SACs provide support and confidential counseling for students and families to support issues such as:

• Mental Health Concerns

• Substance Use and Misuse

• Friendship & Relationship Dynamics

• Adjustment and Transition

• Family Dynamics

• Gender and Sexuality

• Eating Disorders

• Grief & Loss

SACs can help students and families find appropriate supports and community resources, such as outside counselors, mental health programs and substance use treatment facilities.

Referrals can be made by the students themselves, staff, parents/guardians or other concerned individuals
