UNIT 2 READING:

Students are reading the classic novel The Pearl by John Steinbeck. They met our class mascots, pearl in a bottle and canoe to start the unit. They are responding to prompts using text evidence to track character development and plot events that affect Kino, Juana, and baby Coyotito in La Paz, Mexico, after they discover a magnificent pearl. 

UNIT 2 WRITING:

Students are writing journal entries (2 pages) using assigned topics in their WN for homework. They also started the Nonfiction Writing unit by evaluating informative texts about historical figures who broke barriers in sports and in life.
