In the event you are absent, you should check google classroom for any homework, news, or other information that may be given.
It is your responsibility to hand in any work 2 days after being absent.
Homework is each student’s responsibility. At Colonia Middle School completing homework is a priority. It is understood that the completion of homework teaches content and skills, as well as accountability and responsibility.
The purpose of homework is to:
1. Preview (Preparation): Providing opportunity to gain background information to be better prepared for future lessons.
2. Review (Practice): Help students to master specific knowledge and skills that have been presented in class.
3. Creative (Extension): Students use their unique talents and ideas to express themselves.
All homework assignments given Monday through Thursday must be “turned in” (or marked as done) in the Google Classroom by 7:30 AM the following day. All assignments given on Friday must be submitted in the Google Classroom by 11:59 PM that day. Long term assignments may have different due dates and times.
● If an assignment is turned in one day late, the grade will be lowered 5 points
● If an assignment is turned in two days late, the grade will be lowered 10 points
● If an assignment is turned in three days late, the grade will be lowered 15 points
● If a student does not turn in the assignment after the third day, a zero (0) is posted in the grade book.
● Assignments will not be accepted after the three day grace period, resulting in a grade of zero.
Parents will be contacted after a child has missed three assignments. After a child has accumulated three zeros in one class, an intervention will be arranged by an administrator and/or guidance counselor.
