Hi, my name is Ms. Avila, and this is my 1st year teaching at Lafayette Estates school#25 but it is my 6th year teaching ESL/Bilingual in Woodbridge Township. Previously, I have taught in Edison and then Westfield for a total of 5 years, at all grade levels as a bilingual teacher, Spanish teacher, and ESL teacher. I have worked in both Special Education and Self-contained Autistic classrooms.
I have a Bachelor's of Liberal Arts from Rutgers and a Master's of Science in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. My ESL and Bilingual Program are through the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy travelling to other countries and learning about new cultures. I also like to read and watch Netflix to unwind. :-)
On a personal level, I can relate to many of my students’ families. I am multilingual: fluent in Spanish, conversational in German and Italian, and always adding another language to study (Arabic is next on my bucket list!). I raise my daughter in a multilingual home, where we speak Spanish and English. She is entering her senior year of high school.
I am looking forward to getting to know my students this year and help them with learning English. I am so excited to help them in their educational journey!
