Veteran's Day:

AMS will welcome two assemblies by Rob Aptaker- Way of the Lenape. Students in art classes will be working with clay to learn about traditional Native American pottery. Social Studies students will complete interactive notebooks regarding the Native American population of New Jersey. In Science students will research the scientific contributions of Native Americans.

Week of Respect: 

Students completed lessons on Cyber-bullying, THINK, and a Positive Self Inventory to create and about me poem. All staff and Students signed the Anti-Racism pledge. Students and staff completed a piece of an AMS community mural. The week ended with a whole school pep rally where staff and students competed in an obstacle course.

Hispanic Heritage Month:

ELA students will explore poems by Hispanic Authors; Social Studies students will learn about the reason people from different Hispanic countries immigrate to America. They will complete a response worksheet to a reading passage; Math students will complete math problems which solve a puzzle about a famous Hispanic American; Science students will complete a Padlet assignment where they research famous Hispanic Americans in the Science field; Students in "Specials" classes, like Health, Tech, Art, etc. will take part in the Hispanic Heritage Music Madness brackets where they will hear 1 song from each of the Spanish Speaking countries and vote on their favorite in the style of a March Madness Bracket until 1 song prevails. Students in dance class will be learning about Salsa and will then instruct the students in music and art classes on how to dance Salsa Students in art classes will learn about several different types of art from Hispanic countries including: Hojalata from Mexico, Vejigante masks from Puerto Rico and Hurichol yarn art from Mexico; World Language classes will explore famous Hispanic Americans and the countries they are from.
