What New Holidays Does Pennsylvania Have in Store?

BY: Marwo Hassan

On November 17th,2021, the Governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, passed Senate Bill 248. This bill will add three new holidays to the PA calendar. These new holidays honor veterans and emergency responders.

According to this new bill, March 6th will be considered “Persian Gulf Veterans Day”, Oct 7th will be considered “Global War on Terrorism Veterans Day” and, Septembre 27th will be “First Responders Day.”

These new Holidays were passed to remember the service and sacrifice of our bravest citizens.

According to Major General Schindler, several veterans go through severe suffering and trials even after coming home, whether it be with their mental health, or in the lack of resources they have access to. Schindler wants not only veterans to be recognized but also their families, who sacrificed times with their loved ones in support of their nation. Two of those special days “The Persian Gulf”, and “Global War on Terrorism” were specially requested by Army veteran Harold Redding of Spring Grove to honor the Veterans.
