Math Activities to Do at Home with Your Kindergartener:

• Count objects (make sure each object is counted only once)

• Rote counting (count out loud in order, e.g., 1 to 20)

• Recognize and write numbers (the Parent Math Website has correct

• formation examples under the Numeral Writing tab)

• Compare quantities (more, less, equal)

• Identify shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, etc.)

• Sort objects by color, size, or shape

• Create and continue simple patterns (red-blue-red-blue…)

• Match quantities to numbers (e.g., show 5 fingers for the number 5)

• Using positional words (first, last, above, below, next to)

• Counting forward and backward from a given number
