"OUR VIRTUAL WORLD"

You and a team of your choosing will have the opportunity to create and develop of country throughout the school year in what we refer to as the "GAME." After each unit of content, we dive back into the game. Only one country can become the strongest. However, the game is also about making choices which improve the development of your country and its people. Unfortunately, some countries might even perish in the game as a result of their choices. We'll see.

CHOOSING YOUR SECTOR

One of the most important decisions you will make this year is who to work with throughout the game, however the next most important decision is which sector to take command of. The maps below provide characteristics about each sector. From this information, can you identify the advantages and disadvantages each sector possesses?

SECTOR SIZE

This map is meant to show you the current size of each sector. HOwever, you also can see how close it is to other sectors.

Knowing the spatial location of each sector can help you better understand things like access to water, travel and trade routes.

It can also come in handy if you were to have any issues with other sectors in the future.

SPATIAL LOCATION

This map shows the current locations of the virus, however it is predicted that the virus will continue to spread to other areas.

We know the virus will spread through the movement of people. As people continue to migrate, so will the virus if they happen to be infected with it.

Efforts are being made to close ports of entry into each sector, but that will take time.

RESOURCES

This map shows the natural and manufactured resources each sector has an abundance of.

No sector has enough resources to provide for their people, however they do have a surplus of the resources shown on the map.

Sectors do hope once the virus subsides, that trade can resume with other sectors.

ALLIANCES

This map shows which countries have unified together to form each sector in the hopes of surviving the outbreak.

It might be an alliance that leads to a new country, however it could only be a temportary alliance until the dust settles on the spread of the mysterious plague.

POPULATION

This map shows the current population of each sector.

It will give you an idea how many people live in each sector that is if you can figure out how to use the legend provided.

The population of each sector can provide advantages but also disadvantages.

TOPOGRAPHY

This map shows the current physical make up of each sector, its topography (land forms) and basic terrain.

Some form of landfroms can make travel diffcult. Some can naturally provide protection. Some work well for harvesting crops while others provide an opportunity for isolation.

This "RANKING TOOL" can greatly help your team evaluate each sector. If you crunch the numbers, a graph will tell you which sectors to consider for the game and possibly which sectors to avoid.
