Miss Daggett's Grade 1 Bitmoji Classroom!

What exactly is the Bitmoji Classroom?

When you click on the Google Slides, it is a virtual representation of Room 29! I tried to bring some of Room 29 alive on the computer! When you are able to come and see it in real life, there are a lot of the same images, posters, colors, and resources that would be used throughout the room and the year! In the virtual version, it has hyperlinks to rooms and to all sorts of resources your child might need and want to use at home!

What is the purpose?

It is everything you need in one space! It is there to help you out with lots of resources in one space! That way there is less to keep track of! You know most, if not everything you are going to need during this remote learning experience is in the Bitmoji classroom! There are links to our Google Classroom, links to passwords and schedules, links to our Clever accounts, links to communication with me, links to videos to further explain what we are learning about, links to games, links to SEL tools, links to TONS of read alouds, and more!!!

How does this work?

Once you click on the link provided, it will bring you to our virtual homeroom! From there, you can venture onto wherever you need to go! There are hyperlinks hidden through the room. These links bring you to other rooms that I have created, special teacher's websites, games, and videos! You can link on the letters in the alphabet to get a review of the letter sounds. You can go to the green pocket charts and click on the links to a word wall, to the Clever log in (that is what we use to log onto ReadyMath) , you can go to the SEL room (where there is tons of resources to support your child's SEL development!!) , the brain break room, to our Google Classroom (where assignments are and where they will be turned in!), and to a Math Arcade (tons of online Math games!). From there you can check out the subject resource rooms! Where there will be supplemental material, videos, and games that your child can utilize to help them during the day! There is also a parent communication room! This houses information for you parents to use, that way all the papers and emails are in one place! Fun surprises! Sometimes, random objects in the room are links to fun resources! Click around! See what you can find!

Is this going to be updated throughout the year!

YES!! As soon as I find a cool, fun new resource I will absolutely add it to the classroom!

I am trying to find the links, but I can't find them !

The links are in two places! One is any word that is in blue! That blue wording are all hyperlinks! Click on pictures! I have hidden hyperlinks all around the rooms within the pictures and objects within the rooms!

SEesaw

This is going to be the primary place in which students are going to receive and submit work.

How to log onto Seesaw

  1. Got to clever.com/wsps

  2. Hold up their clever badge to the camera

  3. Find District apps

  4. Click on Seesaw

So, how does Seesaw differ from the Bitmoji Classroom?

Seesaw is going to be where any and all assignments are going to be. It is a place for me to post instructional videos and assignments and for your student to turn in their work. The Bitmoji Classroom is a place for extra resources, games, books, and fun!

Once signed in, your child will be able to access announcements and activities his/her teacher has posted for your child to complete. Some assignments can be done digitally through the Seesaw app. Others will require the student to do something offline, take a photo of the finished product using the Seesaw app, and share it with the teacher. All student work will be stored in your child’s Seesaw Journal.

How to Complete an Activity in Seesaw:

1. Tap the Activities tab.

2. Tap the green +Add Response button.

3. Select a Creative Tool for the activity. Students can listen to an audio recording of instructions in this view, as well as during the creation and editing of the activity.

Google Classroom

Even though Seesaw will be the primary place for k-2 to submit and receive work, Google classroom still might be used by some specialists, or will be used by older students. Below is the directions for Google Classroom.

How to log onto your child's Google Classroom

  1. Go to google.com

  2. In the top right hand corner, there will be an array of 9 circles, click on that!

  3. Now there will be a menu that pops up, this is your child's G-Suite. This is how they will access their Google Drive ( a place to type documents, their Gmail (their very own email), their Google Classroom, and much much more!

  4. Click on the image that looks like a green chalkboard with a person on it. It should be the 1st icon in the second row.

  5. Now you are into Google Classroom!

  6. Type in our class code to be allowed in!

          1. The class code will be shared with you through email.

Google Docs/ Drive

This is the same thing! It is a place to create and store documents and presentations! It is the Google equivalent of Microsoft Word. The great thing about Google Docs/ Drive is that the content sames automatically!

How to log on:

  1. Go to google.com

  2. In the right hand corner, click on the array of 9 circles.

  3. Click on the second icon in the first row that looks like a yellow, blue, green triangle that says Drive.

  4. This will bring you to Google Drive where you can see all of your student's work!

  5. To create a new document, go to the left hand column and click on the new button.

  6. From there, click on what you need! A Google Doc is just a plain document to type in, and slides are for presentations.

  7. To share the work with me, go to the top right hand where it says share and click on the share button. Type in ldaggett and my picture should pop up! Be careful! There is a daggett.laura@wsps.org option! That was created a long time ago, back when I was a student! I no longer have access to that account !! :)

What is Clever and iready math?

Clever is an online resource that we use to log into our district curriculum's resources. There is a link to Clever in the Bitmoji classroom. Once you have logged onto Clever, there you can access iReady.

iReady

iReady is the online portion to the district's Math curriculum. Every week students will be expected to have a certain number of on task, productive minutes on their iReady MyPath. Their MyPath gives each student individualized lessons to help support areas of improvement and give areas of enrichment in Mathematics. I can also assign lessons and activities on iReady that supplement what we are going to learn whole class and what I see as areas of improvement. There are also games and activities on iReady!

Epic

Epic is an online library of books. It has the option of students seeing the book, reading the book independently, or having the book read to them! It is just another way to continue reading! There is a link to the website in our Bitmoji Classroom! I will send confirmation emails to parents to allow them onto our Epic site!

Missed Orientation and want to see it again?

1st grade orientation

Welcome! I am so very happy to have your child this year! If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me at ldaggett@wsps.org .

This year we are using Class Dojo to help build our classroom community. Class Dojo helps to build a positive classroom culture in which students are engaged, and learn social emotional skills ! Parents get to be part of the classroom community by seeing how each student did that day and what we are learning! I love posting pictures on the class stories that showcase us learning in the classroom!
