WELCOME TO SCIENCE!

March 23 - 26

WHAT TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) are being covered?

5.10(A) compare the structures and functions of different species that help them live and survive in a specific environment such as hooves on prairie animals or webbed feet in aquatic animals; and

5.10(B) differentiate between inherited traits of plants and animals such as spines on a cactus or shape of a beak and learned behaviors such as an animal learning tricks or a child riding a bicycle.

What essential questions will the students need to be able to answer by the end of the week?

  • In what ways do structures and functions of organisms help them live and survive in their environments?

  • In what ways do structures of organisms compare?

  • In what ways is an organism’s behavior affected by its interactions with the environment?

  • In what ways do interactions with a parent affect an organism’s behavior?

  • In what ways do inherited traits and learned behaviors differ?

What are this weeks assignments:

  • Canvas -> Courses -> science -> modules -> 9W4 Week 4 (April 12 - 16)

Here are some reminders...

  • Students will need to bring their journals each day and supplies for class

  • Students must bring laptops to school charged and ready to go

  • Unit 6 test this week, reviews will be sent home Monday.

As Always, Vocabulary is very important in 5th grade science. Please make sure to be practicing at least 15 minutes a day through your canvas game links.
