JROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps and is a program designed to develop leadership, character, and responsibility in students while motivating them to be better citizens.
JROTC is NOT a recruitment program and there is no military obligation. However, this class does show cadets future career opportunities in the military, and introduces them to military history and customs.
Throughout the year, cadets have the opportunity to participate in events in the community. These can include competitions, parades, a Service Learning Project, military ball, and an annual brigade review.
At the beginning of each year, cadets are issued a JROTC Class A and Class B uniform. Cadets are required to wear their uniform EVERY WEDNESDAY for the entire school day that they have the class. The uniform grade weighs heavily on the cadet's overall course grade and their standing in the battalion.
Every Army JROTC unit has a form of cadet staff that assists in running the battalion. Each staff job is similar to the ones the U.S. Army provides to officers. Staff officers earn their position over the years they have been in JROTC by displaying excellent leadership and responsibility. Specifics of each staff role as well as the current staff officers can be found in the tabs above.
JROTC offers six extracurricular teams, including the drill team, raider team, rifle team, archery team, honor guard, and color guard. Cadets who are interested may join these teams to improve their skills in drill, marksmanship, land navigation, and physical fitness. The corresponding team pages may be found above.
This year, our battalion has several new opportunities for cadets. We have recently adopted a robotics program that offers STEM activities. We are also introducing an archery team that allows cadets to improve their marksmanship.
