Summer Programs

  • Virginia Tech Black College Institute
    Black College Institute (for rising seniors) will offer three-day sessions twice during the summer of 2021: June 13 -June 16 and June 20- June 23. Black College Institute (for rising juniors) will offer a three-day session for the summer of 2021: June 27 - June 30.   • The Summer Immersion Program is an opportunity for high school students (9th - 12th grade) to pursue their passions, immerse themselves in a career pathway or field of study, and engage with Wake Forest faculty and professionals.

  • 2021 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Surry-Yadkin EMC sends two high school students each year to the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. for the trip of a lifetime. Students attend a leadership conference, tour national museums and sites, meet their elected officials at the Capitol, and make new friends from all across the country. In addition, we also give the winning representatives a $500 college scholarship to the school of his/her choice. To qualify, you must be a current junior in high school and live in or attend school within the Surry-Yadkin EMC service area. More info and application

  • NC School of Science & Math Summer Ventures Free residential program for rising juniors and seniors who are academically talented and interested in STEM https://www.ncssm.edu/summerventures

  • The College of Education at NC State University will host their Leadership Institute for Future Teachers (LIFT) this year on Sunday, June 20 - Thursday, June 24, 2021. This exciting opportunity is available to rising high school seniors. LIFT is a five-day, residential program for students of color and bilingual students who are exploring a career in education. The program will be held on the NC State's campus with all expenses paid except for travel to and from Raleigh.
