Students call me Coach Wells or Ms. Wells. This is my 5th year at GCS. I am at the school full days on Monday and Wednesday, and then in the mornings on Tuesday and Thursday. I have been a Physical Education teacher for 19 years. My experience is varied, but I have loved each unique opportunity. I taught at an all boys inner city charter school in NY, an International school in Ecuador, and public community schools in Vermont and Massachusetts. I currently also teach part time at one of those small community schools in Massachusetts.
My interests in sports and physical activity combined with an interest in working with children led me to this career. I enjoy the opportunity to expose my students to a wide variety of activities and skills that develop a deeper interest in becoming physically active individuals. Witnessing my students engaged in learning, as they develop and experience success drives me to be the best Physical Education teacher I can be. The PE setting also provides opportunities to encourage students in their social skills and interactions with peers or those around them.
I was born and lived my early years in Puerto Rico. This provided a platform for me to learn Spanish young and instilled in me a respect and value for understanding and embracing other cultures. More recently, my family drew me to make Warwick, Ma home. Outside of teaching, my interested include spending time with my family, helping with my family's farm, traveling, kayaking and hiking with my dog, and more.
