Happy Friday Families,

We have had a very wet and muddy week here at GCS. The nurse has asked families to send in extra socks and clothes, as her supply is getting low. If you have already sent in an extra outfit to keep here at school, thank you so much! If you haven’t, please do so for next week.

In UFLI, we just finished up letter Y and started reading and spelling words with the letter X. X is interesting because it is made up of two letter sounds: /k/ and /s/. Ask your child if they can think of words with the letter X in them.

In EL, we will be wrapping up our module on weather and starting a new unit where students will learn about the topic “Trees Are Alive.” Students will engage with the world of trees by reading literature, studying the needs of living things, learning how to be researchers, and exploring how living things depend on trees to meet their needs. They will also compare how living things meet their needs in similar and different ways. At the end of the module, we will have a beautiful living things bulletin board for families to admire.

In math, we are starting a new unit on composing and decomposing numbers within 10.

A quick note about lunches: we will only be offering kindergarteners the PBJ and hot lunch choices. Unfortunately, they aren’t eating enough food when they choose the salad bar.

Please don’t forget the half days coming up for parent-teacher conferences that will be held on March 26th and 27th. Please sign up below.
