What is Inquiry?
Inquiry and research are often used synonymously, but there is a distinction. With inquiry, students utilize their curiosity to generate their own questions, and educators guide them to find answers. Using the Stripling Model of Inquiry, students have the flexibility to connect what they know to new information, and express their learning, all while reflecting and wondering in each stage of the process.
Your library staff is prepared to support teachers and students by developing or co-creating an inquiry experience.
How The Library Staff Can Support Stages of Inquiry
Connect + Wonder: Support students as they recall what they know about a topic, and lead them to formulate questions; employ the question formulation technique
Investigate: Use the materials in our collection and online sources to deepen students' knowledge about a broad topic, perhaps reframing their question(s)
Construct + Express: The library is ready to teach students how to effectively use tech tools to organize and present their findings to others. We can model Book Creator, comics, Slides, Canva, or any of your preferred tools.
Reflect + Connect: Librarians are experts in reflection! We can facilitate reflection in various formats be it in writing, online templates, and more.
