Essential Instructional Practices for Early Mathematics Opportunities
Number Corner is a part of a statewide grant-funded project to support teachers with implementing the Essential Instructional Practices. It is a robust program revolving around the classroom calendar- however - it is VERY different from what we normally think of as "calendar time". If features short, daily number-sense routines that introduce, reinforce, and extend important math skills and concepts at each grade level, K-5. It is a 15-20 minute daily supplement that complements any core curriculum.
If you are considering joining us for Year 1 Number Corner implementation, please read this flyer - both sides. You will need to sign the agreements on page 2 and get approval from your administrator and Meg Brown to register! Contact Meg Brown at mbrown@wsesd.org for more information. Space is limited to 30 spots and the focus for 24/25 is Kindergarten and 1st grade.
This series is for participants who have been involved with Number Corner for at least one year!
Are you looking for ways to get your students talking about mathematics? Would you like to grow your skills in notating student thinking to make it visible to other students? Are you looking for ways to encourage students to really listen to and learn from each other? Join our series that deepens our facilitiation skills around Number Corner and student discourse!
