About Heath Madsen:

  • Family: I am happily married to my high school sweetheart (Jen) for 21 years. I have five children (Three boys: Harrison, Riley, Daniel; two girls: Abby and Courtney)
  • Education:
      • Salt Lake Community College (A.S. in Architectural Technology '04)
      • University of Utah (Honors B.A. in History '07)
      • Utah State University (M. Ed. in Secondary Education '10)
      • Currently attending Arizona State University (online)
  • Passions: Family, Religion, Utah Sunsets, Mountains, Drawing, Learning about people.
  • Hobbies:
      • Most anything sporty involving a ball (Soccer, basketball, baseball, football, Golf, Tennis)
          • Not extremely talented at most of them, but do enjoy playing.
      • Guitar... well sort of. That is to say I have a guitar and I want to learn to play it... but I'm not super committed so it sits and stares hopefully at me most of the time.
      • Reading historical accounts, biographies.
  • Coaching. I love coaching sports. I have coached my own children in many sports and have also loved coaching at previous schools at which I've taught. Mainly soccer, but also softball and basketball.

About Marian Doman (Student Teacher)

  • My background:
    • From a small town in rural Missouri named Kirksville
    • Oldest of five kids
    • Both of my parents are teachers; my Dad teaches Spanish at the local university, and my Mom teaches Spanish and Composition at the high school
  • My education:
    • Finished school at Brigham Young University Idaho this December and will be doing student teaching until April
    • My major is History Education and my minor is American Government Education
  • My teaching experience:
    • 6 months as a substitute teacher
    • 6 months as a teacher's assistant at BYU-Idaho (lots and lots of grading!)
    • 4 months teaching and running a classroom of 7th and 8th graders
  • Hobbies:
    • Movies, vacations, social activities, learning, and cooking
