Team 7G FAQ’s

How do I help my student stay organized and on top of work?

Please make sure your student has the necessary supplies each day, especially headphones, pencils, and notebooks.

COMPUTERS NEED TO BE FULLY CHARGED EACH NIGHT.

We have several tools in place to help with the communication between school and home. Keep reading!

What is today’s homework?

Check the Assignment Calendar on our team website: https://tinyurl.com/7GHomeworkCalendar

Students are also encouraged to use their planner to write what homework is for each class daily. You can check this with the online assignment calendar.

Did my child complete required assignments today?

Was my child prepared for class?

How is my child’s behavior?

Students have a Team 7G Log. This should come home with your child daily. Make this an expectation. If you are not seeing it, perhaps consequences, positive and/or negative, could help motivate your student to bring this home to you.

What are my child’s current grades?

Grades are not updated immediately. We need time to review and grade assignments. The SISK12 portal is where you can find out if a missing assignment was ever turned in. Remember, if it was late, it will receive a reduced grade.

How can I be sure my child is reading every day?

Ask your child about his or her book. Have your child give you a summary of what has happened so far in the book. Even better, read the same book your child is reading and have regular book talks! What a great conversation starter with these amazing adolescents who may struggle with conversations.

How does my child submit an assignment on Canvas?

There are numerous video tutorials on YouTube.

What is the late work policy?

Students have 5 school days to turn an assignment in for credit. We will take 10% off each day that it is late. After 5 days, the assignment will no longer be accepted for credit.

Where does my student find missing work from when they are absent?

When students are absent, it is their responsibility to obtain any missed assignments from the designated location and check in with the teacher. For each day a student is absent, he/she is given one day to complete any missed assignments. For example, if a student is absent on Tuesday and returns on Wednesday, it is expected that the missed assignment will be turned in on Thursday.
