We will have less tournaments on the schedule this year, to make it easier on parents and newer wrestlers. Wrestlers are not required to compete in tournaments, but are welcome to attend as many as they would like! All of the tournaments listed are the ones we will have Wrecking Crew coaches present at. If you choose to go to any additional tournaments that are not listed, you will have to provide your own coaching, or parents may need to get an AAU/USA coaches card to sit in the corner.
There are tournaments available nearly every single weekend from November-early March. To find AAU tournaments (typically on Sundays), try checking out local youth wrestling facebook groups. To find USA tournaments (typically on Saturdays), check out this link:

If you choose to enter a tournament, the parent is responsible for making sure the club is notified, payment is sent for sign up, and the wrestlers weight is recorded by coaches (if required).
Some dates may be subject to change. If you have any questions about additional tournaments, feel free to reach out at practice!
Wrecking Crew Wentzville is chartered with two sanctioning bodies, AAU and USA wrestling. In order to be a member of the club and able to participate in practices, your wrestler must have at least an AAU wrestling card. This covers the cost of insurance towards the club. Both AAU and USA wrestling sanction wrestling tournaments.
In the St. Louis area, AAU wrestling tournaments have a strong presence. In different areas of the state, USA tournaments are much more common. It is possible to compete in only AAU events and have a full season with strong competition. Included on the list of AAU events are the Ozark Championships, Missouri Challenge, and AAU Missouri State Championships. These are big tournaments with high quality competition. Even the best wrestlers in our club could attend these tournaments and have their hands full.
USA tournaments on the other hand, have a stronger presence outside of the St. Louis area in other parts of the state, and outside of Missouri altogether. Wrestlers who wish to compete against those outside of our immediate area and compete in the USA state series will need to purchase a USA wrestling card to do so.
While the vast majority of tournaments we do are AAU events, we would like to push more wrestlers to enter USA tournaments. These typically have a higher level of competition and are a huge opportunity for growth for your wrestler! The USA State wrestling series has a district tournament as a qualifier before the state tournament. While AAU state is competitive, USA state is the true youth state wrestling tournament in Missouri.
