**Counselors
The counseling department at North Point High School is committed to supporting students' academic, vocational, social and emotional needs. School counselors are always a support for any student who is struggling with personal issues. North Point counselors are assigned to students based on last name. Their roles include academic and personal problem solving, brief individual counseling, small group counseling, consultation and collaboration, school and community-based referral, conflict mediation, alcohol/drug abuse prevention, and personal/educational/career development.

**Education Support Counselor
The crisis counselor (Educational Support Counselor, or “ESC”) works in conjunction with school counselors, the ESC is a licensed mental health professional employed by the school district. She provides specialized therapeutic services for students who exhibit serious social/emotional challenges which interfere with academics, behavior, and/or social/emotional functioning at school. She facilitates psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention and counseling; helps link students with mental health and community support resources; consults with faculty, staff and parents/caregivers as part of student support teams; and assists in coordinating groups and prevention programs for students.
