Liberty High School National Honor Society

Inducted Member Meetings: Second Thursday of each month

  • Members should utilize the NHS Google Classroom to stay up-to-date on all chapter announcements and activities.

  • Info for students (and their parents) who are interested in being selected for NHS:

The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921.

Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in NHS activities. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. As such, NHS chapters and students are in schools that care not only about student achievement, but also community engagement.

Each spring, Liberty High School inducts students into their chapter of National Honor Society. All students who meet the eligibility requirements will be given an opportunity to submit information to be considered for selection (See "Application Information" webpage for more info).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Sophomores or Juniors

  • Must have attended Liberty for at least one full semester

  • Minimum GPA of 3.75 or higher

The Liberty NHS Faculty Council will consider all candidates for selection based on their demonstration of service, leadership, and character as well as their submission of an essay.

All candidates will have a GPA of 3.75 or above. But, not all candidates will be selected. If NHS is a goal for you/your child, the best advice we can give them is to look for ways to develop leadership skills (through their classes, clubs, athletics, and/or employment), to volunteer to provide community service to one or more organizations that are meaningful to them, and in all things to demonstrate strong character.

In February, all sophomores and juniors who meet the eligiblity requirements will receive information about how to declare their interest in being a candidate for NHS. Parents of those students will also be notified. The selection process is selective. So, use the time between now and then wisely, to try to develop the core pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Thank you,
