8th Grade Students -
This year 8th-grade students will be selecting classes based on their career cluster, chosen by their Missouri Connections interest survey by completing their Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP). This information will be used to guide students into relevant courses aligned with their career cluster and path.
Why:
The shift to students using career clusters is in alignment with the WSD District strategic plan and CSIP goal of developing career pathways and opportunities for workforce readiness. You can see the strategic plan here.
ICAP legislative requirements and suggestions are mandated by Senate Bill 638.
ICAP’s are a part of the MSIP 6 accountability measures for school districts.
What is an Individual Career & Academic Plan (ICAP)?:
Guides students through the coursework and activities for achieving personal career goals, post-secondary planning and provides individual pathway options.
Multi-year process, beginning no later than eighth grade, that guides students and families in the exploration of career, academic, and multiple post-secondary opportunities.
A “roadmap” to help students develop the awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and skills to create their own meaningful pathways.
