Onboarding New Virtual Teachers
Consider the following important guidelines if you are doing any kind of optional live video conferencing with your class/students (Zoom, Google Hangout, etc.):
Do not hold 1:1 video conferences with individual students
You have the option of pre-recording your video communications and sending them to your students rather than going live. See Screencastify and Wevideo tutorials in teh Tutorials for Teachers link.
Should teachers choose to hold live video conferencing with students, teachers will record their videos when using LIVE Zoom or Google Hangouts.
Call all families to make sure they have access to a device and to assess other needs.
Middle School call homeroom or Period 1 students.
As a last resort, If students do not have Internet access, plan a way to communicate paper/pencil assignments to them using workbooks at home (elementary) and Chromebook Google drive offline (middle school).
If a family needs printed materials, follow the printing protocol.
