Graphic Design 9 (0.5 credit) – GRHR1G: Students are introduced to all areas of design. Skills are developed in many areas such as screen printing, airbrushing, design and layout, photography, and typography. The course emphasis is on digital image creation, editing, and software applications. *This course is eligible for the Kelvin Visual Arts Certificate.
Graphic Design 10 – GRAR2G: This course is a continuation of the Grade 9 Graphic Design course. However, the grade 9 level is not a prerequisite. Skills are developed and refined in areas that include: advertising art, vector illustration, raster (bitmap) editing, screen printing, vinyl cutting, airbrushing, print layout, and publication. Students planning a career in architecture, interior design, engineering, graphic arts, and fine arts are encouraged to enroll in this course. *This course is eligible for the Kelvin Visual Arts Certificate.
Design Drafting 11 – DRAR3G: Drafting Design 30G offers students a hands-on introduction to the fundamentals of design, fabrication, and engineering problem-solving. The course begins with an overview of STEM disciplines and design thinking principles. Students will work with digital design tools to build essential skills in vector graphics and 3D computer-aided design creating prototypes using a variety of manufacturing technologies. After exploring basic concepts in electronics and programming students will develop interactive design projects. This course is the foundation for the skills required for Drafting Design 40S. *This course is eligible for the Kelvin Visual Arts Certificate.
Design Drafting 12 – DRAR4S: Building on foundational skills from Drafting 11,
Design Drafting 40S delves into engineering applications such as mechanical, electrical, structural, aerospace, and environmental engineering. This course emphasises problem- solving through engineering challenge projects. Students will collaborate on innovative solutions while also developing individual or group capstone projects, promoting self-directed learning and critical thinking. This dynamic
curriculum is designed to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders, equipping them
with the advanced knowledge and skills to address real-world challenges. *This course is eligible for the Kelvin Visual Arts Certificate.
