Grade 9 Graphic Arts

Students explore logo or packaging design over time, using canva software to analyze and compare how typography, colour, balance, and design elements have evolved or stayed consistent. This project encourages critical thinking about branding and visual storytelling. 

Students explore a new software (Adobe Illustrator) and practice using the pen tool. They learn to create new artboards, use the pen too, apply fill and stroke, work with layers and templates, and save files in different formats.

Students utilize pen tool, fill colour, stroke, curvature, and shape tools in order to recreate vector designs given as templates. Students learn an alternate file format for saving work.

Students use adobe illustrator and a cricut machine to design and create a personalized plastic cup. They focus on a simple one layer design featuring their name and small elements, following step-by-step instructions and follow safe and effective work practices for a physical production of an item.

Students design pins and stickers using adobe illustrator and canva, learning to use various online tools. They print, cut, and use a button press to create their items while following safe work procedures throughout the process.

Students create a one-point perspective name poster, learning beginning drafting techniques. This project focuses on pattern creation, tracing, fine line work, and effective layout design.
