International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme

Introduction

There are over 5,000 schools around the world that deliver International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes and the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) has been around for over 25 years. At River Heights, we focus on years 2 & 3 of the IB MYP.

The goal of Middle Years IB is ALL INCLUSIVE - that means that every student in River Heights School participates, regardless of program. It is a framework that drives our provincial and school curriculum.

École River Heights School was awarded official Middle Years Programme School status on June 22, 2021.

IB Coordinator

The IB Coordinator is Amanda Tetrault. She has been at the school for over 16 years in a variety of capacities including Science & English teacher, Inclusive Education Resource teacher, team leader and IB Coordinator. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning in addition to a BEd, BPE, Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Education and Special Education Certificate. She is constantly working to improve her understanding of this ever changing world, so she is also a National Geographic Certified Educator, a Google Educator Level 2 and is a Global Schools Advocate. She is also passionate about sports and has coached many teams over the years and was awarded the Manitoba Female Coach of the Year. In the spring of 2022, she also received the award from Manitoba's Excellence in Education Awards for Teaching Excellence and was recognized with a Global Citizenship Award for Educators through the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation in 2023.
