Rules of Play
Beginning play begins with all players positioned behind their team's end line.
Upon the official's signal, both teams rush to center court and attempt to retrieve dodge balls.
A team may rush with as many players as wanted, but at least one must rush.
No limit to how many balls an individual player may retrieve.
Crossing over neutral zone (half line) will result in being out.
Players may not grab another player and pull over neutral zone to get them out.
After retrieved, balls must be taken back to end line before being thrown.
Any thrown ball that wasn't taken to end line prior does not count.
No team time outs.
Players are out if: ball is caught on their own throw, if ball touches any part of body (not on bounce), or if they step out of bounds.
Headshots results in the thrower being out, not the person who was hit.
Players may defend themselves by blocking a ball in flight with another ball, so long as they keep hold of the blocking ball.
If the dodgeball used to block is dropped, player is out.
Act of squeezing the dodgeball in order to alter the thrown or blocked ball is not allowed.
Five seconds to have a dodgeball in your hands.
Games are timed for five minutes, series of best two out of three games. Once a series if over, we will move on to the next match. Your team should stay after school so you don’t miss your game. There will be no make up games if your team forfeits.
Single Elimination, with two wildcards.
Swearing and/or poor sportsmanship may result in disqualification.
